Alexander Knox Caspar Harlow, better known to his friends as Knox, has always been known to live a charmed life. The only son of Louis and Matilda Harlow, Knox has been in and around the entertainment industry since he was a baby. His parents met through mutual friends and it was love at first sight – something odd for Louis, who was a vocal cynic of what love really was. As an A&R scout, Louis was emersed into the London music scene, scooping some of the most popular artists of the late 70’s and early 80’s in Britian. Obsessed with his work, he never imaged anyone or anything taking over that passion – that was until he met Matilda. Matilda Harlow was a casting agent for a film company located in the heart of London. After casting extras for a music video, the two were introduced by the director. Louis immediately asked her on a date and four months later the two were walking down the aisle.
Both sides of the family thought the two were rushing down the aisle but supported them regardless. It seemed to have worked considering they are still together after nearly three decades together. Several years into their marriage the two decided it was time to have children and they wanted lots of them. Knox’s sister, Ruby Harlow, was the first to be born in 1985. The new parents were ecstatic with their new daughter and wanted to give her siblings as soon as possible. Unforutnatly it didn’t seem to be in the cards for them. Matilda had two miscarriages before deciding she couldn’t deal with the heartbreak and grief they caused.
In mid 1991, Louis noticed that his wife had been experiencing weight gain and morning sickness. Insisting she take a pregnancy test, the two got the answer they finally wanted – a positive result. Not wanting to risk losing the baby again, Matilda worked closely with her doctor and ended up on bed rest for the last two months of her pregnancy. On a chilly October night, she went into labor and sixteen hours later, Knox entered the world. A mischievous streak had always run though the young boy and he was often the one to run around, playing games and getting out of trouble by looking at his mother with big eyes. Realizing her child had an excessive amount of energy, she enrolled him into every after school activity that she could. The only two that seemed to keep Knox’s interest were football and acting. Pursing the latter to the fullest, it was at his prestigious boarding school, he really fined tuned his craft.
It paid off as well. At 15, Knox experienced his first taste of professional acting when he was cast in the movie This is England for a small role. As he spent his time filming, it dawned on the boy that it was something he wanted to make his professional career. Returning to school, he made sure to keep a low profile keeping to his friends and drama partners. Rumors had spread around the school that he only got his role due to his mother’s connections as a casting agent. It was from there he decided he wouldn’t ever talk or tell people when he was going into auditions. Needless to say after he graduated and was cast as James Cook in Skins, it would shock and anger more people.
Skins changed Knox’s life and it still is something he holds very close to his heart. Being cast with his childhood friend, Kenzi, he felt right at ease when they started filming. The two had begun dating prior to filming and he credits her for pushing him every day since his character was much more bold than he was. The two were attached at the hip until filming came to an end. Doing his best to make it work, the two separated due to their nature of their schedules and left him crushed. Despite the heartbreak, they remained close and even to this day he has never spoken a negative word about his former love.
As Skins ended, Knox wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his career in terms of television or film work. It was after he signed with a top talent agency in Los Angeles, he decided to spend some time across the pond. He never stayed for an extended period of time, but managed to get some film work done. He starred in films like the '71 and ahgwa, which helped expose him to different methods of acting. When he was approached about doing a follow up with Cook, he quickly jumped at the chance knowing it would be the last time he played the boy who gave him his career.
It was in 2015 that Knox got his big American debut. The bit parts he had been in before were great, but being cast in Fear the Walking Dead as Nick was something he had dreamed of. A huge fan of The Walking Dead, Knox knew how lucky he was to get this break and quickly put his heart into the project. Knowing how quickly a career can end, Knox takes it day by day and pushing himself to the limit. He’ll continue to act until he is “put out to dry” as he's often joking with his family.
Personality: In current years, Knox is known being fiercly private with his personal life. For those who have gotten to know him though, they always comment on his drive and lack of fear. Known for being a bit reckless, Knox never backs down from a dare or a challenge. He's the first to yell, joke and be loud in front of his friends, but holds a shy and almost timid demeanor when he's in the spotlight. However, the boy has been known to be a bit of a flirt and it often gets written about in the media and by fans.As he tries to live by the motto "Make the most of every day", Knox is not known for complaining or allowing himself to get involved in drama.
